Pau Alvarez-Aragones

Pau is a professional in international affairs with expertise in emerging technologies, international governance, and business and trade topics, particularly semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI). He holds a Joint MA in Transatlantic Affairs from the College of Europe and The Fletcher School at Tufts University, where he was awarded the Jan Olaf Hausotter Memorial Prize for the Best Thesis in Transatlantic Affairs.

Pau Alvarez-Aragones stands at the intersection of emerging technologies and public policy, with a keen interest in their societal impact. Born to an engineer and a public servant, this foundation influenced his academic and professional trajectory.

He holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Global Studies, during which he actively participated in student associations and completed internships across both private and public sectors. Throughout these experiences, technology consistently emerged as a central theme in critical discussions.

Alvarez-Aragones pursued a Joint Master of Arts in Transatlantic Affairs (MATA) at the College of Europe and The Fletcher School at Tufts University, specializing in technology affairs within US-EU relations. His research contributions include work with London Politica and the Elcano Royal Institute, where he published a significant report on Generative AI and policy implications. This report gained notable recognition, being featured in the Council of the EU’s Think Tank Review and Politico’s Digital Bridge.

As a graduate student, he was selected for a Young Leaders cohort that advised and engaged with the US Representative to NATO during the 2023 NATO Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania. In 2024, Alvarez-Aragones joined the Project on Trade and Technology at CSIS, where he published analyses on AI’s intersection with economic affairs and managed high-level events featuring policy representatives from the White House and European Commission.

Since 2024, Alvarez-Aragones serves as a Consultant for the World Bank, where he conducts research and data collection while managing relationships with government officials and private sector stakeholders.
